Y.O.U Grades 5-8

Youth Opportunities Unlimited

Youth Opportunities Unlimited is a structured program for YMCA members designed to keep students actively engaged after school.  5th and 6th graders are met at the elementary school by a Y.O.U. staff member and are escorted to the YMCA facility.  The program is based out of the Youth Center, a place where students can lounge on the couches, play billiards, bumper pool, and air hockey.  The snack bar is open daily and provides healthy snacks at an affordable price.  Some of the different activities include gym games, weight training, cardiovascular workouts, arts and crafts, cooking club, video games, movies, and free time.  Homework assistance is always  available and students are encouraged to seek help when needed.  This program was intiated through the help of the National Recreational Foundation.

Teen Night Dances

dances

The Boothbay Region YMCA wants to provide safe and fun activities for its area’s youth, and that includes the weekends.  Once a month the Y.O.U.  program holds a dance at the YMCA. The night includes food, drinks, billiards, and of course, dancing!  Teen Night Dances are for all 5th-8th graders, regardless of YMCA membership.  The cost is $5.00.
