TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCEWearing her YMCA swim team suit she raced onto the pool deck sporting her smiling, toothless grin and dove into the YMCA pool. Weeks prior, her mom didn’t know how she would afford swim team until a friend told her about scholarship dollars at the Y. At work he felt a sharp pain in his back. He could no longer stand on his ladder. He fell. After several operations, hospital bills and months of being out of work, his doctor told him he needed aquatic rehabilitation at the YMCA. Not to worry, the Y would help with program fees thru their scholarship program. She was accepted into college. A life-long dream, but care for her son was an issue. A friend told her about the YMCA’s Child Enrichment Center and the tuition assistance program. Both of her parents worked long hours, yet the bills kept piling up. After school time consisted of going home to an empty house. One day her music teacher encouraged her to enroll in Y ARTS. Her teacher made a phone call to her parents and the financial assistance staff at the Y and she was enrolled the next day. Quite simply, thanks to the support of hundreds of caring donors to the Boothbay Region YMCA’s Annual Fund Drive as well as thru the positive word of mouth of friends, physicians, teachers…the community at large, over 500 people each year continue to work, go to college, live a healthy lifestyle, let their talents soar and build new friendships at the YMCA. Please join us…your friends and neighbors and support the Boothbay Region YMCA’s 2010 Annual Fund Drive. Last year, the YMCA raised and expended over $250,000 to support youth, adults and seniors in our community. Your contribution in 2010, will indeed make a difference in many, many lives.
