YMCA FACTS
Our Mission IS possible: To strengthen Christian principles and the universal values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Most programs are subsidized. For example, Aquatics is by $ 25,000 a year and Wellness programs by $48,000 a year.
The combination of community support throught our annual appeals provided financial assistance to over 480 individuals in 2006.
Over the past five years, our operating deficit has averaged $ 300,000 per year. As a result, the Y has been forced to use other income, primarily from the annual fund drive and interest from our endowment fund, to offset some, but not all, of the deficit. As a result, your help through the annual fund is VITAL if we are to continue to provide and improve programs and services. The annual fund is a tangible way for year round and summer residents to give back what they receive from this magnificent community.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the YMCA. Our 405 volunteers worked more than 10,000 hours in 2006.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
A gift of $ 126 provides one year of youth membership for a deserving child from a local family.
A gift of $ 300 provides assistance for a worthy student in YMCA programs like dance, gymnastics, basketball or karate.
A gift of $ 600 provides one month of day care for the child of a hardworking family in our region.
A gift of $ 1,125 gives a child an entire summer at Camp Knickerbocker.
A gift of $ 1,200 helps underwrite one week of YMCA teen outreach programs, which currently serve more than 300 teens each month.
