....Memories for a Lifetime

Dear Campers and Parents,

Greetings from Camp Knickerbocker, where it’s always 80 degrees and sunny!

Except for the occasional animal rustling in our woods, camp is quiet now. But it won’t be long before the sounds of summer fill our acres once again:  the ringing of the bell on Opening Day; gathering at the flag pole and singing a rousing rendition of “The Princess Pat;” the sounds of arrows hitting their targets at archery; the swishing of baskets during basketball; the splashing of the lake during swimming; the screaming of cheers during Camp Olympics. It’s all right around the corner and we welcome you to be a part of it.

Many of our great counselors will be returning this summer, along with some new ones that can’t wait to learn about our Camp K traditions. We make sure and hire the best staff that are well trained to ensure that campers have a safe and fun summer.

Camp is an experience that every child should be afforded. Outside of the great activities we offer, Camp Knickerbocker is a place for kids to be kids. We like to laugh, sing, and have fun every second of every day.

If you have any questions about camp, please give me a call. I’ll take any excuse I can to talk about camp.

See you this summer!

Kris Roveillo

Critter Camp

Boys & Girls ages 3 & 4

In summer, our YMCA Preschool program transforms into Critter Camp. Twice a week the children take swim lessons and enjoy free play in the pool.  Mondays are spent at the Center playing in the wading pools and sprinklers at our own playground. On Wednesdays the big white and green bus takes us to Camp Knickerbocker for the day where the children swim, boat, play field games, do arts and crafts, play on the playground, and so much more.  One day a week is devoted to enjoying our beautiful ocean community – a beach, the aquarium, a trolley ride, the Railway Village, searching for crabs and sea glass, and perhaps a boat ride to a nearby island. Our low adult/child ratio and certified lifeguards at the pool and on the waterfront assure your child's safety and enjoyment. As with our school year programs, we will work with you to arrange the schedule that best meets the needs of your family during the busy summer months. Space is limited, so register early to avoid disappointment.  Children may register for 1, 2, 3…..or all 10 weeks. For more information, contact Meagan Hamblett, Child Care Enrichment Director

Scamper Camp

Highlights include summer days spent at Camp Knickerbocker, special theme weeks, swim lessons, boating, field games, traditional flag ceremonies, field trips, singing, arts and crafts and much more! Scamper Camp is held at Camp Knickerbocker and on stormy, summer days the program will be held at the YMCA Child Enrichment Center. Parents can sign their child(ren) up for 1, 2, 3…… or all 10 weeks.
